宗椿〈そうちん・生没年未詳〉は、室町時代末期の連歌師。泉州・堺の人で坂東屋と号す。連歌を牡丹花肖柏〈ぼたんかしょうはく・1443-1527〉に学び、和歌を三条西実隆〈さんじょうにしさねたか・1455-1537〉に師事した。また、歌道・書道を能くした。その書風は書流系譜「本朝古今名公古筆諸流」に「連歌師宗椿堺流牡丹花門弟」とみえるように、肖柏の影響を強く受けたものである。この詠歌は、姉小路基綱（あねのこうじもとつな）の家集『卑懐集（ひかいしゅう）』を典拠とする（「恨恋」）。藍に紫の雲紙に、金銀泥で雲・柳・草などを描いた、瀟洒な装飾短冊である。
