直仁親王〈なおひとしんのう・1704-53〉は江戸時代中期の皇族。閑院宮初代。東山天皇〈ひがしやまてんのう・1675-1710〉の第六皇子。母は新崇賢門院賀子〈しんしゅけんもんいんよしこ・1675-1710〉で、中御門天皇の同母弟にあたる。幼称は秀宮。宝永７年〈1710〉幕府の奏請により親王家設立の御沙汰を蒙り、享保３年〈1718〉宮号を閑院と賜った。同年に親王宣下を受け、弾正尹に任ぜられた。箏や笙などを能くし、また蹴鞠の名手としても評判であったという。和歌は近衛基熙に入門し、のち、近衛家久、武者小路実陰、中院通枝らに学び、禁裏・千洞和歌会に出詠している。この和歌懐紙は、歌題「七夕草花」から、享保８年〈1723〉あるいは寛延２年〈1749〉の七夕歌会で書かれたものであろう。親王は20歳、もしくは46歳。「星の夕、「七夕の草花」ということを詠める和歌／弾正尹直仁親王／いく秋も飽かず愛づらむ星合の手向に咲ける花の七草」
