里村紹巴〈さとむらじょうは・1525-1602〉は、安土桃山時代を代表する連歌師。俗称は松井氏。臨江斎・半酔子などと号した。奈良・興福寺の明王院の喝食となり、天文11年〈1542〉に出家、まもなく上京、周桂・里村昌休に師事して連歌を修める。天文21年〈1552〉昌休の没後、その遺児の昌叱〈しょうしつ・1539-1603〉を養育したことから、里村家を継いだ。三条西公条には和歌や『源氏物語』について学び、近衛稙家からは古今伝授を受ける。織田信長・明智光秀・豊臣秀吉ら、時の権力者をはじめ、公卿・武家・僧侶らと広い交渉があった。が、文禄４年〈1595〉豊臣秀次の自尽事件に際し、連座したため園城寺に蟄居させられる。赦されて帰洛するも、活動は旧に復さず、同７年、78歳で没した。
