宗柳〈そうりゅう・生没年未詳〉は、天正から慶長〈1573-1615〉ころ、すなわち室町時代末期の連歌師。堺の人。葦竹斎とも号す。通称、下田屋。等恵に連歌を学び、古今伝授を受け、祐心・空盛・盛誉らに伝授した。文禄２年〈1593〉『独吟千句』（大阪天満宮文庫本）を詠み、細川幽斎の判を仰いだ。『宗柳雑談聞書』は、宗柳の連歌雑談をまとめたもの。これは、三首の和歌を書く懐紙。素朴な味わいを持つ一幅である。「「立春の天」ということを詠める和歌／沙弥宗柳／今宵寝て明くるを待つは久方の空より春は立ちや来つらん／早春の山降る雨のあしたに見れば春の来て小倉の山に雲ぞかかれる／海辺の霞年越えてなごやかなれば奈呉の海といふ名は今朝の霞なりけり」

詠立春天和歌沙弥宗柳こよひねてあくるをまつは久かたの空よりはるはたちやきつらん早春の山ふる雨のあしたに見れば春のきてをぐらのやまに雲ぞかゝれる海辺の霞としこえてなごやかなればなごのうみといふ名は今朝のかすみなりけり
