黄麻紙に『大般若経』巻第三六二を書写する。『大般若経』（大般若波羅蜜多経）は、「般若波羅蜜」（完成された最高の智慧）を説く多くの般若経典群の総称で、全600巻から成る。あらゆる仏典中で最大規模の経典。唐の玄奘の訳。『法華経』とおなじく経文中に写経功徳があり、この経典を供養するものは諸の神によって常に護られると説かれることから、わが国においても、奈良時代以後、平安・鎌倉時代を通じて書写された。とくに平安時代には、除災招福のためにさかんに『大般若経』１部600巻の書写供養が行われた。また、紺紙金泥の『大般若経』が書写された記録も数多い。さらに、一人でこの『大般若経』一部600巻を完写する功徳を遂げた者もあった。この１巻もこうした背景につくられたものである。端正で穏和な筆跡に、平安時代・11世紀に入って誕生した和様の書風を感知する。が、達筆な能書の筆とは言い難いが、１字１字丁寧に運ぶ書写ぶりに、信仰の深さを思う。
