黄檗で染めた黄麻紙に薄墨の界（罫線）を引いて『大般涅槃経』（巻第七）を書写する。広く流布する『大般涅槃経』は40巻本であるが、これは36巻本という特異な訳本。おそらく、一切経として書写された写経の一部であると推定される。肉太でやや大ぶりの重厚な書風が、天平時代の写経の優品である「薬師寺経」（『大般若経』）の筆跡を思わせるところから、江戸時代の古筆家は、朝野魚養〈あさののなかい・生没年未詳〉の筆と極めている。奈良時代後期の典型的写経体である。
