奈良時代から平安時代前半にかけて、唐鏡の影響のもとに瑞花双鳥鏡が作られてきたが、平安時代後半頃から、日本独自の特徴が顕著に見られるようになる。唐鏡での双鳥とは主に鳳凰であったが、日本では徐々に鴛鴦（オシドリ）に近い文様に変化していく。これが後には鶴や雀など、日本でなじみのある鳥に置きかわっていくことになる。また形状の面では、中国鏡ではあまり見られない五花形（５弁の花びらの形）の鏡が作られている。梅花の形状を模したともいわれ、和様化の一端を示している。

For the first launch, Google Cloud's Vision API will be used to analyze the images of each object and automatically generate keywords.
