The area occupied by today’s Thailand was ruled by the Angkor Dynasty of the Khmer people of Cambodia until the Sukhothai Dynasty (also Phra Ruang Dynasty) was established. Sukhothai marked the beginning of modern Thailand. Thai art is widely varied in different areas, but central Thailand is known for the heavy influence of the Khmer. The mirror featured here is an example of such Khmer influence in ancient Thailand.
