This originally belonged to the two-volume handscroll of Wakan Roeishu (The Anthology of Japanese and Chinese Poems for Recitation, selected by Fujiwara-no-Kinto). The paper shows cloud-shaped indigo fibers (kumokami) and further decoration with gold and silver dust and foil. The somewhat lengthy but bold and heavy strokes are typical of the Gokyogoku School of calligraphy which was originated by Gokyogoku Yoshitsune. Naishi is the name of an office in the court served by a female officer. This suggests that this segment was so named after a high-ranking female officer who could have possessed the original.
