The extravagant Jurakutei (also Jurakudai) Castle was built in Kyoto in 1587 by Toyotomi Hideyoshi (1537-98) as his official residence as Senior Regent. Hideyoshi held huge banquets for Emperor GoYozei (1571-1617), including during his majesty’s visit between the 14th and 18th of April 1588. This is the record of the royal visit.
