加藤明友〈かとうあきとも・1621-83〉は江戸時代前期の石見吉永藩主で、のち移封により近江水口藩主。勿斎、芝山、教義斎などと号し、字は子黙。会津藩主加藤明成〈あきなり・1592-1661〉の子で、寛永20年〈1643〉に家督を継ぐと同時に石見国（島根県）吉永に移封となる。以後40年にわたり善政を施し、その功績が評価され、天和２年〈1682〉に石高加増の上で近江国（滋賀県）水口に移封となるが、翌３年に死去。享年63歳。この一行書「上帝臨汝毋貳爾心」（上帝、汝を臨む、爾が心に貳毋れ）の句は、中国最古の詩篇である『詩経』「大雅」（貴族や朝廷の公事・宴席で奏した音楽の歌詞）の「文王之什」（周王朝の始祖・文王を称える詩）による。「お前が二心を持たぬように、天はお前を見ている」の意。清澄な筆致に格調の高さを見る。明友の人格を彷彿とさせるものがある。
