高島秋帆〈たかしましゅうはん・1798-1866〉は長崎出身の砲術家、兵学者。名は舜臣（きみおみ）、字を茂敦（しげよし）、号を秋帆（のちに喜平〔きへい〕）という。蘭書を集め、西洋砲術に関心を持ち、各種武器も収集しながら研究を深め、高島流砲術を完成。阿片戦争（あへんせんそう・1840～42）ののち幕府に洋式砲術の採用を進言した。が、認められず、ねたむ者の讒言により蟄居に刑される。しかし、ペリー来航を契機に解放され、晩年は幕府の軍事顧問として重要な役割を果たした。この一行書は、盛唐の詩人・岑参〈しんしん・715-770〉の五言律詩の中の一句。「雨過風頭黒」と対句をなす。雨が止んだあと雲が開けて空から陽光が射し入る。その日腳（日影）が黄色に染まった風情を詠む。書法は中国明代のもので、一気呵成、スピード感にあふれ、唐様書道の特徴を示す。款記から安政６年〈1859〉11月（仲冬）、62歳の執筆と知る。
