これは如意輪観音像の懸仏である。背面の円鏡は失われている。如意輪観音は三十三観音の一つで、観音像の一変化である。如意宝珠をもって衆生に財宝を与え、輪宝（法輪とも）を転じて衆生の迷いを破る法力をもつ菩薩として信仰されたものである。如意輪観音の像として、もっとも一般的なのが、一面六臂（顔一つに対して、胴体から６本の腕が生じている）すがたである。宝珠、念珠、蓮華、輪宝を持つほか、右の第一手は頬にあてて思惟（瞑想にふける）の相（すがた）を示しており、左の第一手は垂下させて地をなでる。また、右膝を立て両足裏を合わせる特徴的な坐法（輪王坐）をとる。この如意輪観音像の高髻の下に大きな窪みが見えるが、おそらくは別鋳づくりの宝冠が、ここに取りつけられていたものであろう。
