高辻章長〈たかつじのりなが・1469-1525〉は室町時代の公卿。長直〈ながなお・1441-1522〉（ながなお）の子。家学である漢詩文を能くした。明応３年〈1494〉文章博士になり、永正４年〈1507〉には後柏原天皇に「五帝本紀」を進講している。永正12年〈1515〉権中納言に昇り、翌13年からは越前国への下向と上洛、出仕を繰り返す。同18年〈1521〉に中納言の職を辞して、晩年は越前朝倉氏の元に滞在し、大永５年〈1525〉同地で没した。この詩懐紙は、「権中納言」の位署から、章長が47歳から53歳の間に行われた、七夕詩歌会におけるものである。謹厳な行書体に終始する重厚な筆致は、能書の才をうかがうに十分である。「「七夕、同じく「銀河、潟の如し」ということを賦す一首／涼を以て韻と為す／権中納言菅原章長／楼頭（楼上）咫尺（しせき・接近する）、銀潢（ぎんこう・天の川）に掛かり、忽（たちま）ち覚ゆ、清襟、暁露（ぎょうろ）に涼しきを。一滴比侯、万戸に応じ、梧桐（ごとう）、葉動（ゆ）れて、二星（牽牛星・織女星）商（くだ）る。」
