本居美濃〈1773-1838〉は、国学者本居宣長の二女。寛政３年〈1791〉伊勢松坂湊町の長井（小津）嘉右衛門信厚と結婚した。和歌を一万九百首余りも詠んだといわれ、門人も多くいた。また、書にも秀で、宣長の長男春庭の失明の後は、かれの代筆を務め、その仕事は『詞八衢』など著書の原稿や、和歌、文書類にも及ぶ。また、宣長の『古事記伝』の巻二五から二九までの版下も書いた。春庭の死後は鈴屋で講義をしたという。この詠草は、万葉仮名と漢字を取り合わせて、一首を書くもの。華奢な筆線ながら着実な運筆で書かれている。
