華鬘（けまん）は、仏殿の内陣の長押（なげし）などにかける荘厳具。もとは生花を結び、輪にして首にかけた装身具であった。が、仏前に供えるようになり、材質も恒久化し、荘厳具に転じた。形態はおおむね団扇（うちわ）形、紐を総角（あげまき）風に中央に結び飾って、唐草文や蓮華文を切り透したものが多い。これは極楽世界に遊ぶ迦陵頻伽（かりょうびんが。人面鳥・想像上の鳥）をあらわした華鬘で、鎌倉時代の遺品。
