The design here depicts a bird, but its body is hidden under the central knob. Some bird motifs appearing on this kind of mirror employed a low-relief technique, while others were simply drawn. This is an example of a line-drawn design, with oblique lines along the edge. Some low-relief mirrors have a plain edge.
