The inner band is divided into four equal parts, and the outer band, into 12 equal parts, each of which is decorated with glass inlay. Glass making originated in ancient Syria and developed further in Egypt and western Asia. In China, the oldest glass-like balls were excavated from sites of the Western Zhou Dynasty (11th-7th c. B.C.). True glass objects processed under high temperatures were not made until the Warring States Period (4th-2nd c. B.C.). The inlay technique also originated during that period, gradually leading to more elaborate designs.The diameter of this mirror is only 5 centimeters. So small, this lovely mirror can almost be enveloped in one's hand, but it is an infinitely beautiful mirror. The Chinese craftsman in the Era of Six Dynasties or Sui must have tried his best to elaborate on this piece of toilet ware for the sake of noble ladies' ardor for beauty.
