古筆了仲〈こひつりょうちゅう・1656-1736〉は、江戸時代後期の古筆鑑定家。初代古筆了佐によって創始された古筆家は、了佐一系の本家とは別に、早くに江戸に出た了佐の三男勘兵衛（名・一村）の子了任が別家を立てて鑑定業を行った。その養子に入ったのがこの了仲。元姓は清水氏、名は了因、のち守直といい、通称を勘兵衛といった。ほかに、舎玄斎・釣玄斎を号した。当初、了任が本家の許可を得ずに始めた家業であったが、了任が江戸幕府の古筆見（古筆鑑定家）に取り立てられて以来、本家とも縒りが戻ったという（『江戸図鑑綱目』の古筆目利の項に、了仲と本家の了珉がともに谷中に居宅を構えていたことが記される）。本図は、濃淡２本の墨竹に、瀟洒に竹葉を添えたもの。墨絵の最もポピュラーな画題で、古くから描かれてきた。画・賛ともに了仲の自筆。書画に長けた一面を見せる珍しい作品である。「両竿の墨竹、本より短長無し。翠、微かに指し示す、争か商量ならん。」
