On August 16, 1218, a poetry party was held in the Court, in which the emperor Juntoku (1197-1242), Minister of the Right Kujo Michiie (1193-1252), and thirty court nobles took part. The exhibited picture scroll depicts the poetry party. An original work is known to have been rendered by the painter Fujiwara no Nobuzane (dates of birth and death unknown) and the calligrapher Sesonji Yukiyoshi (1179-1225). But the original has now been lost, this exhibit is a reproduction. The calligraphic style suggests that it was copied during the early Edo Period.
