柴野栗山〈しばのりつざん・1736-1807〉は、江戸時代後期の儒者。讃岐国（香川県）の出身。名は邦彦（くにひこ）、字は彦輔（ひこすけ）。栗山・古愚軒などを号した。一時、徳島蜂須賀藩の藩儒として仕えたが、天明８年〈1788〉に幕府の寄合儒者となり、以後は松平定信〈まつだいらさだのぶ・1758-1829〉に重用され、内裏造営や昌平坂学問所の発足などに従事、「寛政異学の禁」（朱子学以外の学に対する禁令）を建議したことは史上有名である。当時、尾藤二洲〈びどうじしゅう・1747-1814〉・古賀精里〈こがせいり・1750-1817〉とともに「寛政の三博士」と称せられた。また、屋代弘賢〈やしろひろかた・1758-1841〉・藤貞幹〈とうていかん・1732-1797〉とともに古書画や山陵の調査にあたっており、さらには文章家・漢詩人としても才能を発揮、幅広い学識を誇った文化人として聞こえた。この一行書「亀息芝蘭叢」（亀は息う、芝蘭の叢）は、唐の詩人・楊衡（ようこう）の「登紫霄峰贈黄仙師」の五言古詩のなかの一句を書写する。「雲飛瓊瑶圃」と対をなす句。細長い聯に書写する。あるいは何句かの対幅で揮毫されたものではなかったか。一点一画を気力あふれる筆力で運ぶ。かれの遺墨の中でも、充実した作品である。
