那波活所〈なわかっしょ・1595-1648〉は、江戸初期の儒者。初名は信吉、のちに方。字は道円（どうえん）、活所は号。晩年は姓を祐、名を觚と改名している。播州姫路の人。慶長15年〈1610〉に上洛して藤原惺窩〈ふじわらせいか・1561-1619〉に師事、朱子学を修め、同門の林羅山〈はやしらざん・1583-1657〉・堀杏庵〈ほりきょうあん・1585-1643〉などとともに四天王にあげられた。寛永12年〈1635〉、和歌山藩の徳川頼宣〈とくがわよりのぶ・1602-1671〉に儒臣として抱えられ、『寛永諸家系図伝』の編纂に召されたが、眼病を患い帰洛、慶安元年〈1648〉正月死去した。私費を投じて活字の出版事業に尽くした。これは、晩唐の詩人・鄭綮（ていけい）の詠み込んだ七言詩。「庚午十一月活所主人」の署名により、寛永７年〈1630〉、活所36歳の作詩揮毫と知る。しっかりとした運筆に支えられた結構は、儒者の誇りが看取される。唐様独特の力強い筆致である。「鄭綮驢雪／晩唐の間、箇の豪雄出ず。三百年、終時事空し。鞍上に詩を思い、人に会わず。鬢毛、粛散、灞橋の風。／庚午十一月活所主人」
