三条西公条〈さんじょうにしきんえだ・1487-1563〉は、内大臣三条西実隆〈さねたか・1455-1537〉の子。兄公順〈こうじゅん・生没年未詳〉が僧藉に入ったため、二男ながら家督を相続した。天文11年〈1542〉正二位・右大臣に至るが、在任１年あまりで官を辞し、嵯峨二尊院（じそんいん）において桑門に入る。法名は称名院仍覚（しょうみょういんじょうかく）。その後は諸国を遍歴し、風雅三昧の生活を送った。早くから和歌・古典文学に通じ、後奈良天皇〈ごならてんのう・1496-1557〉に『古今集』『源氏物語』を進講するなど、学者としても活躍した。公条は、父実隆の影響を著しく受けた三条流の能書家である。手馴れた筆致に卓越した能書の才をみる。なお、この歌は公条の家集『称名院集』に入集している。
