人型棺の内側に書かれたヒエログリフ
人型棺の上蓋を形成する複数枚のパネルの1つ（足元付近）で、側面には、他のパネルと連結して木棺を完成するための穴や木製の釘跡が見られる。パネルの内側に、右から縦書きで5行にわたって、呪文の言葉がヒエログリフ（エジプト象形文字）で記されている。この文章はコフィン・テキスト（棺に書かれた呪文）と呼ばれ、「死者の書」を構成する呪文の1つである。「死者の書」は、霊魂が肉体を離れてから死後の世界へと至るまでの案内書として書かれた埋葬用の文書で、新王国時代の紀元前1550年頃に成立し、紀元前50年頃まで使用されたとされる。初期には王や王妃の棺室の壁に描かれていたが、後期になると、王族に限らず裕福な人物の埋葬において、この例のように棺の内側に書き記されるようになった。
パネル上部の挿絵には、ライオンの形状に作られた棺架に横たわるミイラ死体にたいして、死者の守護神アヌビスの面をつけた僧侶が香油処理をする様子が描かれている。床に置かれた臓器が収められる壺には、それぞれの守護神の姿がその上に描かれている。（TM）
