二条為重〈にじょうためしげ・1334-85〉は、南朝の廷臣であった為冬〈ためふゆ・?-1335〉の子。傍系の出自のため、官位の昇進は不如意であったが、晩年には従二位・権中納言に至る。歌においては、歌道師範家の御子左（みこひだり）家の嫡男として尊ばれ、時の関白二条良基〈にじょうよしもと・1320-88〉の推挙で３代将軍足利義満〈あしかがよしみつ・1358-1408〉の歌道師範をつとめ、さらに『新後拾遺和歌集』の撰進に加わるなど、その活躍はめざましいものであった。家集に『為重卿集』を残す。至徳２年〈1385〉盗賊によって不慮の死を遂げた。為重は世尊寺（せそんじ）流の書を能くし、絵画にも優れた才を発揮したという。素紙の短冊に、柔らかく繊細な筆致で書写する。この歌は、御子左家の遠祖である藤原為家〈ふじわらのためいえ・1198-1275〉が名神大社へ奉納した詠歌を集めた『為家五社百首』（竹部）に収められるもの。
