富小路秀直〈とみのこうじひでなお・1564-1621〉は、左兵衛権佐種直の子。慶長18年〈1613〉50歳にして従三位・非参議に叙せられた。元和７年〈1621〉、58歳にて没。彼の書風は尊円流（青蓮院流）に含まれ、流派の特徴である豊麗で温和な筆致をよく示している。この短冊には、珍しく署名に本姓が記される。
