後奈良天皇〈ごならてんのう・1496-1557〉は後柏原天皇〈ごかしわばらてんのう・1464-1526〉の第二皇子で、第105代の天皇。名は知仁（ともひと）。大永６年〈1526〉父帝のあとを受けて践祚。しかし、折からの戦乱の世に即位式を挙行する費用がなく、10年後にようやく即位した。皇室衰微の中にもなお天皇としての深い自覚を示し、天文９年〈1540〉『般若心経』を書写して諸国の一ノ宮に奉納、当時流行していた飢饉と疫病の終息を祈念したことが知られる。また、好学の天皇は三条西実隆〈さんじょうにしさねたか・1455-1537〉や清原宣賢〈きよはらのぶかた・1475-1550〉から和漢の講義を受け、古典の書写・継承につとめて和学の興隆に寄与した。筆跡は、書流史上、後柏原院流にその名を連ねており、父帝の豊潤にしてのびやかな書風に酷似する。この短冊は、自署に「知仁」とあるところから、即位以前の親王時代の執筆と知る。歌題は別筆。
