高辻総長〈たかつじふさなが・1688-1741〉は、江戸時代の公卿。高辻長量の子。母は高辻豊長のむすめ。元禄６年〈1693〉穀倉院の学問料を賜り、同16年には文章得業生となった。その後累進して、享保13年〈1728〉権中納言、同19年には正二位に進んだ。明和３年〈1766〉52歳で出家した。和歌や書画を能くした。この詩懐紙は、総長が参議に任ぜられてから文章博士を辞するまで、すなわち享保９年〈1724〉から同13年までの間に書かれたものである。「重九に同じく「人情皆向菊」ということを賦す詩「人」字を用いて便とす／参議文章博士菅原総長／萬紫千紅絶勝春霜前秀色巧誇人家々心賞屬籬落占得秋花謝世塵」
