柳原淳光〈やなぎわらあつみつ・1541-97〉は、桃山時代の公卿。町資将〈まちすけまさ・1518-55〉の子で、初名は将光。のち柳原資定の養子となり、天文20年〈1551〉家督を継いで、淳光と改名した。永禄６年〈1563〉参議、天正７年〈1579〉11月に権大納言に任ぜられるも、翌８年正月これを辞し、２月に正二位に叙された。慶長２年〈1597〉８月６日、57歳の時に従一位に叙せられたが、同11日に没した。これは、歌題から、某年９月９日の重陽の歌会に詠進したもの。天正８年〈1580〉に正二位になって以降、没する慶長２年〈1597〉まで、すなわち40歳から57歳の間となる。豊潤で温雅な筆致を見せる。50歳前後の筆であろう。「秋の日、同じく河辺の菊花を詠める和歌／正二位藤原淳光／しら菊のにほひふかめて水無瀬川波のはなさく秋やみすらむ」
