持明院基時〈じみょういんもととき・1635-1704〉は、江戸時代中期の公卿。基定〈もとさだ・1607-67〉の子。持明院家は、室町時代に断絶した世尊寺家のあとを受けて、代々能書をもって宮廷書道の牛耳を執った家柄。基時もその一人であった。父の基定は書道に加えて神楽の名人でもあったが、基時はそれをも相伝している。この懐紙は、元禄７年〈1694〉９月29日、内大臣・松木宗条〈まつのきむねなが・1625-1700。東山天皇の外祖父〉の七十賀に際して、東山天皇以下廷臣一同が出座して催された和歌会のもの。基時は60歳であった。持明院流の型に、いかにも忠実な書風を見せている。「秋の日、同じく「松は齢を延ぶる友」ということを詠める和歌／正二位藤原基時／かり置てともとぞなれむすゑとをく千世をみかき（御垣）の松のときはに」
