尊証法親王〈そんしょうほうしんのう・1651-94〉は、後水尾天皇〈ごみずのおてんのう・1596-1680〉の第十七皇子。玲瓏宮と称した。６歳の時に青蓮院に入室、万治３年〈1660〉に親王宣下を受ける。同年、剃髪して尊証と号す。第182代・第189代と二度、天台座主をつとめ、元禄７年〈1694〉、44歳で没した。この懐紙は、歌題により、延宝５年〈1677〉正月19日、御会始の時のものと知る。27歳の筆跡。尊証法親王は、祖父・後陽成、父帝後水尾天皇の血脈を継承して、書法を能くした。『本朝古今名公古筆諸流』などによれば、その書風は尊純流に属する。確とした尊純流の書法で、暢達した筆線が美しい。「「春情、鶯に有り」ということを詠める和歌／尊証／百鳥（いろいろの鳥）の声に紛れぬ鶯はのどけき春の心をや知る」
