道晃法親王〈どうこうほうしんのう・1612-79〉は、後陽成天皇〈ごようぜいてんのう・1571-1617〉の第十一皇子（第十三皇子とも）。元和７年〈1621〉10歳で聖護院に入室、寛永２年〈1625〉落飾。翌年、親王宣下。興意法親王〈こういほうしんのう・1576-1620〉の後をついで聖護院門跡となった。のち園城寺長吏・天皇護持僧に任ぜられる。万治元年〈1658〉京都白川の照光院に隠居した（47歳）。68歳で没した。茶道・和歌に秀で、画技にも長じ、人物・花鳥画などを得意としたという、当代屈指の文化人であった。この懐紙の筆跡は、穏やかで落ち着きのある筆致を示す。中院通村〈なかのいんみちむら・1588-1653〉を祖とする中院流の特徴が顕著な書きぶりである。「「暮春の藤」を詠める和歌／道晃／よそに見て帰らん春の別れをやうらむらさきの宿の藤が枝」
