池田光政〈いけだみつまさ・1609-82〉は江戸時代前期の武将で、備前国岡山藩主。父は利隆〈としたか・1584-1616〉。母は榊原康政〈さかきばらやすまさ・1548-1606〉の二女鶴子。元和９年〈1623〉徳川家光の将軍宣下のおり、将軍の諱の一字を与えられ、光政と改名（15歳）。通称、新太郎。父の死後、幼少であったことを理由に転封され、鳥取城に住した。のち、岡山城に移り、岡山藩政を確立した。熊沢蕃山〈くまざわばんざん・1619-1691〉らに儒学を学び、手習所（寺子屋）や藩校を設立した。名君の誉れ高く、また、修学に志した人物である。これは、署名を書かずに最後に「光政」の落款を押した珍しい遺例。和歌は『新古今和歌集』（巻第三）などに入集する寂蓮の古歌で、肥痩の変化を大きくつけた、優雅な書風である。幼き子女のための手習手本として揮毫したものではなかったか。「暮れて行く春の湊は知らねども霞に落つる宇治の柴舟光政」
