『大般涅槃経』（巻第二四）の断簡。この経典は、釈尊の最後の旅路における発病からその入滅、その後の荼毘、舎利供養までを順を追って描く。仏画の「仏涅槃図」をはじめとする仏教美術におおきく影響を及ぼす経典である。これはわずか３行の断簡ながら、点画は勁く、のびやかな筆致で筆力あふれる謹厳な楷書体。天平10年前後、奈良朝写経の全盛期、しかも書法に優秀な写経生によるものである。
