庭田重保〈にわたしげやす・1525-95〉は、庭田重親〈しげちか・1495-1533〉の子。正二位・権大納言に至る。庭田家は、代々神楽で笛を吹くことを家業とした。尊鎮流の能書として知られる。重保が位署にみえる「按察使」の官に任ぜられたのは天正12年〈1584〉、60歳のときである。高倉永相〈たかくらながすけ・1531-85〉筆になる同題の懐紙があり（No.00896-0024）、同じ歌会のものと考えられるから、永相の没年との関係により、これは天正13年〈1585〉春のものと判明する。重保60歳か61歳の筆跡である。尊鎮流独特の重厚で粘っこい筆致が展開されている。「春の日、「梅、久しく薫る」ということを詠める和歌／按察使重保／年々に植ゑ添へて見る庭の面の梅は百木（たくさんの木）の外に匂はむ」
