近衛信尹〈このえのぶただ・1565-1614〉は、桃山から江戸時代の公卿。関白近衛前久〈さきひさ・1536-1612〉の子。初名は信基。天正10年〈1582〉信輔に、慶長５年〈1600〉信尹に改名した。号は三藐院。21歳で従一位・左大臣に至る。文禄元年〈1592〉豊臣秀吉の朝鮮出兵に従軍を企てたが失敗し、同３年、後陽成天皇の勅勘を蒙り、薩摩に配流となった。島津義久の厚遇を受けて、坊津、のちに鹿児島に移され、３年後に許されて帰京。慶長10年〈1605〉関白・氏長者となる。歌道・書道に秀で、とりわけかれのつくりあげた独特の書風は三藐院流（近衛流）と称され、多くの追髄者を輩出した。本阿弥光悦、松花堂昭乗とともに「寛永の三筆」の一人に数えられる。これは、二句の詠草。託するために加えた末尾の文面が途中で切れている。結局、送達されなかったもの。36歳で信尹に改名してから、50歳で没するまでの間に書かれたものである。「信尹／萩が花散透枝に雨落て／わさぼいづる稲葉の雲に雨みえて／伺候致して示すべく預け候。透は……」
