明融〈めいゆう・?-1582〉は正二位・権大納言冷泉為和〈れいぜいためかず・1486-1549〉の子で、早くに出家して時宗（じしゅう・浄土宗の一派）の僧となった。兵乱を避けて、駿河に下向していた父為和の元に身を寄せ、そこを本拠に各地を巡歴した。歌才に恵まれ、上洛して公卿衆と交わり、歌会をしばしば催している。家学たる歌道に精進のかたわら、『源氏物語』などにも造詣が深く、今日、自筆書写とされる「明融本源氏物語」（池田亀鑑旧蔵・東海大学図書館桃園文庫蔵）を残している。この二首懐紙は、肥痩の変化が著しい筆線で、のびのびと筆を運ぶ。じつに個性的な書風である。「二首の和謌を詠める／桑門明融／月前の紅葉月も空に車留めて見るばかり簾巻き上げ嶺の紅葉葉／夢中に会ふ恋むば玉の夜の衣をうへさすはあかぬ契りをいかゞ見てまし」
