策彦周良〈さくげんしゅうりょう・1501-79〉は臨済宗の僧侶。明への進貢貿易に活躍した。丹波の人。亀陰、謙斎などと称した。永正６年〈1509〉、京都の北山鹿苑寺の心翁等安に師事し、同15年、天龍寺で剃髪した。戦国の武将で中国地方の大名である大内義隆〈おおうちよしたか・1507-51〉の請に応じて、天文８年〈1539〉、同16年と二度に渡り入明を果たし、世宗に優遇された。帰朝後は天竜寺妙智院に住した。幼少期から詩文の誉高く、生涯に多くの詩作を残し、五山文学の巨匠としても名高い。これは、和歌一首に、策彦の識語と署名からなる一紙。和歌は『六花和歌集』（私撰集。貞治３年〈1364〉頃成立）の巻第一・春歌に所収の、中務卿（＝宗尊親王〈むねたかしんのう・1242-74〉）の歌である。それに対し、この掛幅の識語には「これも慈鎮和尚の歌と逍遥院殿定められ候なり」とある。というのも、『六花集』では、この歌の前歌は慈鎮（＝慈円〈じえん・1155-1225〉の作であり、おそらく歌学者・三条西実隆〈さんじょうにしさねたか・1455-1537〉がこの歌を吟味し、『六花集』に記載の作者名「中務卿」は誤りで、前歌と同じく慈円の作とみなした、ということを記したものであろう。
