『法華経』巻第六薬王菩薩本事品第二三の断簡。筆者を後京極良経〈ごきょうごくよしつね・1169-1206〉と伝える。腰高の字形、強さと重厚さを兼ね備えた筆致は、まさしく後京極流（後京極良経の書風）の特徴である。藤原忠通〈ふじわらのただみち・1097-1164。良経の祖父〉の法性寺流の書風を継承、発展させた書風で、鎌倉時代初期・13世紀前半のころ、貴族を中心に武家・僧侶の間にもてはやされた。写経の遺品のなかでこの書風は稀有の存在である。
