琢玄宗璋〈たくげんそうしょう・1579-1685〉は、臨済宗大徳寺派の僧。相模（神奈川）の人。牧牛子（ぼくぎゅうし）と号した。菊径宗存（きくけいそうそん・165世）の法を嗣ぎ、慶安元年〈1648〉に大徳寺第183世に出世。明暦元年〈1655〉に武蔵国（東京）品川の東海寺（寛永14年〈1637〉沢庵宗彭開創）の輪番となった。貞享２年〈1685〉に示寂（85歳）。法梁隆徳禅師の勅諡を賜った。この字句は『法華経』方便品の偈の一句に見える。世に仏が出現する目的はただ一つ、仏の智慧を世に広めるためであり、それ以外の目的はない、という。一気呵成の闊達な筆致に加え、割れた筆先の妙が興趣を誘う。「唯（ただ）、此の一事のみ、実（じつ）なり。前大徳琢玄叟書（印「琢玄之印」）」
