A Buddhist service artifact, a gilt-bronze bell is rung loudly during an Esoteric Buddhist service to cleanse and awaken the believers from their stupor. A bronze (often gilded) bell consists of the bell at the bottom, the handle in the middle and the top of the handle, which usually has prongs. The exhibit shows a five-pronged top design as there are four prongs surrounding a central prong. The face of Buddha is carved on all four sides of the handle, which was a rare design.
