Since ancient times, Mount Fuji has inspired literature and art. Interestingly, however, the Mount Fuji motif was not used on mirrors until the mid-Edo Period. Landscapes featuring famous scenic spots, like the Pine-lined Boulevard of Miho, Tago-no-Ura Bay and Seiken-ji (also Kiyomi-Dera) Temple, with Mount Fuji in the background became a popular design.
