Hunting was a popular recreation during the Tang Dynasty, as is depicted in this mirror. One can see some hunters readying spears and bows and arrows to kill wild game. The animals being hunted in the scene seem to be the deer, hare, boar, and bear. The mirror’s edge is decorated with flowers, twigs, bees, and butterflies.
