とぐろを巻く龍の姿を、鈕の下に胴の一部が隠れてしまうほど、内区いっぱいに配する。頭部が龍だけではなく、虎のように見えるものもあることから、「龍虎鏡」とも呼ばれるが、「盤龍鏡」の名で通っている。
