円圏帯をなす内区に獣の文様を描く獣帯鏡の一種で、盤龍鏡と組み合わされたもの。鈕の周りの鈕座にはとぐろを巻いた龍を配する。頭部が虎のように見えるものもあるが、総じて「盤龍（ばんりゅう）」の名で呼ばれる。外区には鋸歯状の文様が廻り、縁を唐草文で飾る。
