After the fall of the Tang Dynasty, five dynasties came to power in rapid succession, and through the continuous political turmoil, the flourishing bronze-mirror production came to a sudden stop followed by a rapid decline. Many mirrors from these troubled periods carry crude patterns, while some totally lack any form of decoration. Undecorated mirrors eloquently speak of the turbulent era in which they were cast.
