This example belongs to the generic group of “mirrors with foreign creature and grapes,” in which the creatures are typically four-lion motifs. In this mirror, however, two of the usual lion motifs are replaced by a pair of birds. Likewise, mirrors in this group are sometimes decorated with arabesque patterns only, without the grape.
