This mirror shows a flower motif combined with a bird motif, both of which were also favorite images in Chinese poems. One can presume the influence of poetry on mirror designs. Conversely, designs and scenes decorating mirrors inspired some poets. Tang era poet Wang Bo wrote about magpie mirrors.
