A square surrounds the central knob, and the square itself is surrounded by a motif of plants consisting of wheat and flower buds and petals. In mirrors of this type, often the square band has carved inscriptions indicating the name of the copper mine where the base material came from, the name of the artisan who created the mirror, or the achievements of the reigning emperor. Other mirrors were often inscribed with words of good omen. The rim of this mirror is decorated with linked bows.
