A bronze sutra cylinder with a tightly-fitted lid. The center of the lid is slightly raised, creating a fine line. The lid has two holes, which perhaps latch into the projections on the body to secure it. This clever device makes the exhibit rare and unique. A double band decorates the midriff of the cylinder. Allegedly, the exhibit was found in a sutra mound in Yokawa, to the north of Mt. Hiei (Shiga Prefecture), though there is no proof.
